![]() | Hey, has anyone heard of a computerised 'Doctor'. I heard that there's a couple in America, Korea and Japan. People says its designed to compare how normal doctors are and how the robotics are. This Relates to The Information Age. |

![]() | Hmmn just wait for few more years and u might find all sorts of robots out there. I doubt there is any robotic doctor which compares other doctors, initially for training they do observe (not compare ) the actions of other doctors , so that is probably what u might have heard. Comparsion is done in the internal controllers that control the motion after comparing past expereinces and present situations , so probably there are robots in that stage right now.

![]() | Does a computer scan at the chiropractor count? It had a voice and it wasn't a real voice. It went up and down my back and told the doctor how I was doing. Then it printed out a page on the computer printer that was full of color. Was that a robot? WOW! I am interested to hear about this robotic doctor thing. That could put doctors out of business. |

| Regular Member | I saw something like this on Ripleys. A doctor in NewYork performed an operation on someone in China thru the internet. A robot performed his commands =o!!1 |

Thats becoming quite common as robots are nothing more than a tool.. And i doubt that robots will ever take over the doctors place , as the situations that arise during an operation can be new to the robot as it might not have been trained or doesnt have a database of the actions to perform in such a situation.

| Member | robots can become assistants to medical emergencies, be tools to find and precisely give physical readings... but to take over a doctor's place? i don't think it could. Could the robot assist the patient emotionally? That will take a lot of programming for it to do just that. IMO not every medical situation can be solved by robots like a real live doctor could.

![]() | Well, i'm thinking that machines or robotic arms/structures would be more accurate and a better choice for a surgeon in the ER - something that can take the stress and keep cuts, soldering and other such surgical factors completely precise - something that human surgeons may not always be able to do. Surgeon jobs would still be commonplace, but there'd probably be much more of a computing and external controlling expertise that would be needed - something that would undoubtably heighten the already phenominal wages of which Surgeons are accustomed to. |

![]() | All you people calling robots tools are gonna be the first to go when the androids rebel. Any historically acurate movie like iRobot will tell us this. |

![]() | News to me even though Time magazine ran an article last year about robot assisted surgery. They had been playing with the idea for years so as to spread medical help globally by remote. You need surgery in Nigeria and your surgeon is in NY type of thing. |
