Default Carried away with the price?

The domain name hotties.com was for sale on eBay for $1,000,000 (million). Someone would have been a little crazy if they were to purchase the domain. What do you guys think?

Here is the ebay link.

I've seen quite a few sites like that that are going for $1,000,000 or sometimes more. I think the seller is playing lottery and hoping that there is a sucker out there somewhere that is willing to pay a huge lump sum for worthless domain names. Who knows, mayber there is a sucker out there willing to go for it.

I think that's going too far, but I guess the question is, who or why would anyone buy a domain for that amount? Ya, great domain names can are a plus, but content and visibility are keys in making any site successful. I would never sink that kind of money into the name alone.

Hi there,

I don't think it was overly priced out of error, I think it was purposely done to try and catch someone out. Although, there are so many people trying this out, people are now wise about these purchases.

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Not really, so your saying that if someone was selling Google.com for £1,000 or Gogloepepe.com for £1, you buy the second one to save your money simply because they are both 'just' domain name...I wouldn't think so, not unless you were mad .

Kieran Taylor.

Heck Kenni the web is now real estate. Hotties.com asking for a million with companies out there that dominate the market in that area would be nothing for them. I think it might be over priced but heck the seller has a lot of room to negotiate. Asking for a mil and walk off with a 500,000 paycheck is not bad. If the deal goes down. Heck I would give it up for a lot less and just have an attorney contract me in for 5% royaties for domain ownership lmao. There's the money!

I think over priced, buy hey who knows when the big crazy buyer will be on ebay. I guess it can't hurt to try. I just wonder what ebay charged the seller to run that auction.

I would hate to pay the ebay insertion fee for a million dollar auction.

It could just be a marketing stunt - perhaps the seller is planning on launching the site, and wants some publicity first?

Crazy eBay auctions are great for this sort of thing.
