You can also get the Google toolbar and check your PR with that. Or, like myself, there is an extension for Firefox that tells you all different types of statistics for any website that are listed in the SERP.

I've found the Alexa toolbar to not only display your rank but also influence it. You can get a new site rank in the top 400,000 just by surfing your own site with the toolbar activated. However, I've had to remove the toolbar because it caused my computer to crash and programs to stall.

If you would like to see where are you ranked you can get a good stats program also, of course if you already got any traffic.

There are many people that don't like the Google Toolbar...

You can check it out for instance: http://www.powerpr.de
You can also display your ranking on your website.
Simply register, it's for free. Then you can choose a certain button for it.

Than everyone can see your ranking without using Google!

I either use www.ranks.biz the google toolbar, or a lil freebie program called PaRaMeter.. I like PaRaMeter because it remembers the addy of all of my websites, and my competitions too
