Poker Networking Site

Hello,

I would appreciate some comments on UI of PokerDIY please (in general, but also specifically the Tour, and the concept of converting visitors into users).

PokerDIY is more than just a community of poker players, it offers free tools, leagues and services for home poker players.

For example, you can find games in your area, or create one. When you make a game you can invite your groups of friends or external people and they get an email inviting them to the game. When they RSVP on PokerDIY the event host receives an email and everyone can see who else is going etc.

I am evolving the functionality constantly (limited invites, RSS feeds etc) but although I am getting lots of visitors, I am not getting many conversions to users, and I am trying to work out why.

I am not a designer but be cruel - let me know if something sucks! Assuming you are interested in PokerDIY, why would you or would you NOT join?

I think this is a good concept, and a nice site, but the horizontal menu is not very easy to read, and the firs row of the calendar -contains upcoming games- doesn't appear to me, browsing with firefox.

hi.

I play poker online alot. on several sites.

my opinion is that the concept is too corporate... it should be, in my opinion, more friendly .. more into the concept of the online poker websites where the players are used to soem style....

Thanks Stephen - do you mean the concept or the site style?

I am trying to make it very laid back with a great Forum where people can interact and chat.

My idea is that there are a LOT of people on MySpace and other networks that are organising poker games, BUT this is generic software and the only reason they use MySpace is because there is nothing else and it has the user base.

My site is going to take social networking one step further and focus on a niche market - live poker players. Think MySpace but with Events functionality that has Blind Structures, scoring, tournament style etc.

All I need are the users now, and I belive that MySpace user's are not necessarily that loyal, given a better, free alternative.
