Thanks ForumZClub, that looks really good. I am concerned that they will put advertising or sneaky links in any site built with this. It is not open source after all, it is a free version of a commercial product.

I am also suprised that Google hasn't spotted this php script and penalised it's use out of the google listings. I couldn't find a high ranking or 'popular' directory running this script.

Do you know of any good examples that use this script?

a few script are comercial.
you can find some beautiful directory script like baracuda but its not Search engins optimized. its powered by Ajax and there is lot of javascript code in your directory pages. i need a SEOed one

with directory script you can make a online directory like www.dmoz.com
not as big as dmoz but this direcory can help you site alot.

If you are still interested in eSyndiCat I have a their themes on my demo site. Pretty slick some of them are too. You can view them here:

Just select a style at the top and it will load into the bottom part of the screen.

I think that all directory scripts look to similar, that is why I have decided to go at it on my own. I am learning PHP exclusively to help me code linkslinky(my directory). The features of all of the scripts are inticing, but, like I said, I want my directory to be significantly original, so I think that the time spent is well worth the time alone. That is just my opinion.
