This week's interview at Directories Forum is with Simon Gooffin, CEO at eSyndicat ( http://www.esyndicat.com ), one of the best directories scripts. The entire DF Team would like to thank Simon for this great interview.

DF: What got you into wanting to make a directory script?

Simon I had several sites and I used another directory software. It had quite poor functionality and I decided to write own script for our directories. That script built static pages and I did not like that most of all. But it had seo friendly URLs and it was very good. So I knew mod_rewrite and an idea came to my mind to use it to make dynamic URLs to look like static ones.

DF: Who and(or) what was your motivation? How did you start?

My first version was written within one week. It was a simple script with several options to add/edit categories and links. I installed it on one of the sites and my partner told I should improve it a bit and offer as a free script.

DF: Why eSyndiCat? Why did you choosed this name?

eSyndiCat. Basis - syndicate.. We simply moved last letter in the beginning. It's a short word starting from first letters (I mean e that's in the beginning of alphabet ). Cat - catalogue, Cat - categories.. You know it's not easy to find a good domain name now. Most of good domains are already taken and we could buy this one.
