Default Re: I wanna learn symbian programming

To start off, phone manufacturers like nokia only gives you the SDK (downloadable in their site) and a gcc compiler to create and run your program on the device, and an emulator to run your program on the PC, but it doesn’t give you the compiler to create the binary for the PC. The device and PC have two different binaries.)

You'll need an IDE ie the compiler. There's Metrowerks codewarrior, Visual C++ and Borland C++ Builder ME (the only completely free tool and this is good if you target Nokia Series 60).

*sign* Symbian is not as easy as programming in java, pocket pc or palm. There aren’t many free documentation around, the documentation in the sdk sucks and there are only few open source programs on the Internet that you can actually study. i don't plan on discouraging you, I think it's great you want to learn it. I've tried programming symbian before but I can only help a little with this topic.

Either ways, all the best on your goal to learn symbian! Cheers!
