Domain Usage After It Expired

Well, ive got a domain registered when i got a hosting account, but the hosting has been unreliable recently, i was wondering whe nthe hosting runs out the domai nwil lalso, but would it be possable to register the domain myself after it ran out and use it with a different host?.

If you need and more info just ask.

Whether the domain will expire along with the expiry of the hosting depends on how long the registrant registered it. (check www.whois.sc if you are the registrant of your domain or the hosting company and you could check when it expires)

If you are the registrant then you could just renew your domain while it's in its hold period (up to 35-40days after expiry) else you'll have to wait 60days after expiry (domain has pending delete status) for it to get deleted from registry and buy it for yourself.

The answer to your question is no....unless you cancel your hosting account the day your domain is set to expire. Your domain will expire whenever it was set to expire, depending on when it was registered and for how long it was registered...The question will be - where do you maintain your domain...That depends on how your host registers them

The best thing will be to transfer out your domain name to better registrar. Good Luck

Ok thanks, it expires on 27th of january, i will contact my hosting company to see if they wil lrenew it and transfer it to another website, more than likely they wont but hey, worth a shot.

So 60days after it expires i should be able to sign up again, the host registered it for me and i dont no who its with.

I had a site that I was supposedly going to get the domain name with, and although I had purchased the domain and site they never did transfer the domain name to me. So when the domain name up for renewal, it expired and the site came down as I stopped the hosting on it as well.

Just looked and I see someone has it up for sale at Afternic and it has a DomainSponsor page there. Well nothing I can really do about it now. The site has been gone for months and they never wrote and gave me the domain name.
