Hi
For fast or regular indexing you need:
-fresh & unique content
-submit a google sitemap, take care of errors, especially robots.txt errors
-relevant, on topic, quality external links, both to your homepage and internal pages
-good internal linking, every page must be easy to reach from the homepage
-valid code
For the second...
-don't use reciprocical links with pages with hundreds of links most of them off topic , non relevant to your website
-don't increase the number of your backlinks too fast
-don't use duplicated content ..especially on your website, i mean don't have two pages with same content or very similar
There are many other factors, let's hear other opinions
Thanks
Val

That’s really good advice itSourceRo, I would also suggest making the site search engine friendly, don’t make certain parts of your site unreachable (via cookies or any other method), avoid using frames (this confuses the poor spiders) and in your site map don’t for get to give relevant values to the parts of the site that are updated more often.

I might as well post it here as it answers the question fully.

Google is by far the most researched upon Search Engine in the world basically because it is the one most used by people.
Yahoo on the other hand is a combination search engine and search index to information on the World Wide Web.
MSN is Microsoft Search Engine.
There are millions of web entrepreneurs in the world. All these web entrepreneurs want to get a piece of the Big 3 search engines. There are many ways to get a slice of it. People have been to Search Engine Optimization forums and Webmaster Forums learn these great techniques and strategies to get the goal of being the #1 rank for a certain keyword and that high Page Rank.
I have listed here the best ways to promote a site:

1. Link Building - is the process of of creating inbound links to owns website. This can be done reciprocal links, being listed in e-zines, newsletters, directories, search engines, etc.

Link Building Techniques:

a. Submit articles to the industry leader's website.
b. Get a press release. Make news about what is happening at your website.
c. Submit your site to paid directories.
d. Submit your site to DMOZ and other free directories that allow free submissions. Free submissions is one of the best free things to do.
e. Create a great article on your site and let it be submitted to Digg. Chances are, that people will see it and link to the article.
f. Post your site at craiglist. Ugly doesn't mean worthless. Craiglist is one great way to get people to know your site.
g. Answer questions on Yahoo Answers. Give your site reference if it is really from your site.
h. Online Forums allow members to leave links in their signatures. Make good contributions to the forum and people will recognize you as an authority in the particular field. People will try to link you.
i. Blogs have been a popular trend lately. Make blogs. Become and authority in your field. Put in a link and I am sure that people will click the link and link to your site.
j. Freebies. Everyone likes freebies. It is human nature that people want something that they ddn't pay for.
