Backlink Update

Yesterday Google updated backlinks. For some reason, the backlinks on all my sites decreased dramatically. I'm not sure why because I should have the same amount of backlinks...my backlink amount has remained the same with the other search engines. How was the update for you?

I have 61 backlinks right now...I dont remember checking it before and dont even know if that should be considered high or low for a 3 month old site using mediocre promotion...thoughts?

It depends on what kind of promotion you did. I gained 200+ backlinks in a couple weeks, but I was focusing a lot on gaining backlinks for a better PageRank rather than focusing on gaining more traffic. If those are 61 quality, traffic-producing backlinks, that's perfectly fine for a 3 month old site.

Gotcha, yeah, I'm definitely more worried about traffic than I am PR...sure, it would be nice to have 500 backlinks, because then you are sure to get traffic from them, but I can increase traffic much more efficiently if I focus just on that - traffic, and not solely on backlinks

I have a site that's more than a year old. In some data centers I have a sampling of 114 backlinks on some it decreased to only 70 backlinks. I'm also after traffic, if PR goes up then that's an added bonus
