Default How should I set up my link text?

I have been putting 3 of my main keywords/phrases in each link that I place on other websites hoping that the search engines will pick up all three. For example I have links with this text in it: Silk Plants, Flowers, Artificial Trees...Is this a good thing or should I only be placing one keyword/phrase in my link text such as: Silk Plants?

Phrases are better than keywords now. I try too put in my links the phrase that i would expect people to search for and find a page on my site.

Hi There,

A quick one, I agree ith Mr. stOx, keywords doesnt work.

Try natural ways :-)

Something like:

# Unique Title - Header for posts/sites titles etc.
# Unique phrases, words etc in your contents.
# Natural. Think how would you search online most probably others will search like it too i.e understanding how search is being made by, for example, me. etc (dont take my words for it, do ask around - im no expert but im learning as well).
# Watch any Google Videos on Youtube, should be something there that can serve as hints. Lastly read other, blogs (good source for info).

Regards,

Jimmy.

Hi,

You should avoid using single anchor text because using single keywords can drop your ranking on those particular word..

When i do link of my important keywords, i do use these as well as alternative keywords for linking.... I search alternative keywords with ~ sign in google and i often place keywords like "Silk Plants Design" "Silk Plants Company"... I also add informational keywords like "Guide" "learn" "Information about" so that these should look like natural linking and no spam....

If you haven't done keyword research then enter your keywords at SEO Book's Keyword Suggestion Tool to find good anchor texts for your links. Just enter this search query "seo book keyword suggestion tool" in google to find it (I can't post links yet). (*edit) It's important to make sure that those are keywords that people are actually searching for. It would probably be better not to mix your anchor texts in the same link. I think it will look more like a natural linking pattern if you vary your anchor text for different sites with effective and relevant anchor texts that you got from the keyword tool.
