Nice, but yeah, don't use phpBB. SMF (SimpleMachines.org) is much better, the best free one out there now.

Um .... it really is

InvisionFree must be hosted on their servers and it has ads, plus you don't get to use your own domain and you have limited power.

SMF can be downloaded for free or installed with Fantastico in just seconds, plus it has automatic updates and easy theme additions in the admin panel - no need to mess with FTP for them.

It's also very powerful.

Exactly. Don't use InvisionFree if you're looking to start a real, proffesional forum.

Donlee - you're forum's decent for a start. I would suggest you create or upload a custom style to give it a better look and feel, and also get rid of some categories. Start off with no more than seven - nine categories until you get some people to start posting. A lot of empty forums seem to turn people away.

phpBB is great software, considering it is free...IPB and vB are indeed better, but there is a reason they come with a price tag...SMF is another great piece of software which, if it keeps moving at the pace it is, will surpass phpBB in the near future.

That said...welcome to the forum business - now time to customize your forums so that they dont look so stock

yeah vBulletin is probably the superior one, then followed by IPB. The thing I don't like about vBulletin is the community. When you go to vbulletin.org you have to sign up as a user with your forum id just to see the skins. I just wanted to see what is available

Yeah...that's another gripe I have with vB...I didnt understand why they wouldnt let guests, or even basic members for that matter, view skins and mods. It makes sense that they wouldnt be able to download them, but vB has such a great mod community, I think that they are losing a lot of potential clients because they cannot see the mods and skins beforehand
