Alexa stopped updating traffic rankings

I've seen Alexa's Traffic Rank stuck at the same figure for the last three weeks for a web site.

It used to update at least every week. The actual traffic of the site does indeed change (increase).

Have you seen the same?

Funny: one site I have the stats for doubled its traffic in the month of August but its Alexa ranking plummeted.

The site has grown several times in number of visitors in the last few months and Alexa used to follow the trend to a certain extent. Since the site is getting a few thousand of visitors per day, the statistical bias of the number of Alexa toolbars in the population shouldn't be significative anymore.

Alexa's figures just don't make any sense.

I collected few sites info from alexa for my new project - PDL After PDL announcement i noticed that alexa has started their ranking update

And again I updated all site's alexa ranking info, really that was my bad luck

Hi,
I don't trust Alexa rankings much because i don't think there are many people with alexa toolbar installed.For websites in first ~50,000 positions it may be right but above it is easily to fake.

Its a tool bar that not everyone uses, its not accurate or representative, but some times gives some idea of competitors... but the data should not be relied on.

Hi there,

I myself aren't really bothered about Alexa, it is just a silly little research tool for Amazon to analyse. True the top 50 sites will be accurate, although it is easy to con. PageRank is more important to me out of statistical terms.

IMO, they are all inaccurate, however, they are all useful when trying to decide your tactics when it comes to promotion. PR and alexa rating are about the same, neither really has much use other than for statistics. The biggest thing about alexa, is that it is geared towards webmasters, in that it is a tool that more webmasters use, therefore, if you have a site that is geared towards webmastery, then you will probably rank higher because the webmasters that use alexa's toolbar are more likely to visit your site than a site about car speakers. Did that make sense?

Yes its a skewed result. I`ve never used the tool bar myself
