I've never used Yahoo... I just stick with AIM or nothing at all, though I did install the googletalk messanger. Never used it though.

yahoo messenger is a good tool, i use it to keep in contact with friends and relatives from different parts of the country or the world.

Unfortunately for me, when I upgraded to the latest ym the whole messenger wont start. I tried reinstalling it several times but, it still wont run, it keeps saying an error occured in the ym system. Got any idea what's up?

Ive been using Yahoo Messenger for like since 6-7 yrs now.....and its a gr8 way of keepin in touch with frnz n fmly ...n now since ive grown up a bit too..even business talks can b done in real time instead of playin the email ping-pong

to queen: did u uninstalled it completely? it happens sometimes i dunno y..but maybe a complete format of ur system wil do it

else u can try TIM(Tiny Instant Messenger) its a small yahoo messenger...just 60KB...not too many features tho..if u want it lemme kno

What makes, in your opinion, yahoo messanger better than alternatives such as AIM, Google Talk, or MSN messanger?

i like the ym emoticons hehehe... the only difference I noticed is most of the people I know are aware of the existence of yahoo messenger compared to other messenger but doesn't make it any better than those you mentioned.

to pairbrother: i forgot to say that I just reformatted my whole system and reinstalled everything, after this was when ym started to crash. maybe it's some other thing I forgot to install? :confused: oh well I'm still trying to figure it out. thanks for the reply anyway.

as i said i strtd using ym 6-7 yrs back..it was new for me and i just liked it much better then msn...and since almost all my contacts r on yahoo, never actually tested AIM or GoogleTalk..though now i use yahoo+msn both

Hmmm.... cool. Most people I know use AIM or MSN - I just never transfered to anything other than AIM.

My contacts (all) use MSN and i just hate it... I prefer the Yahoo Messenger GUI, but i dont use it 'cause nobody does...

I have never used Yahoo Messenger. It is very heavy and takes a lot of memory and it is also not user friendly. I stick with MSN.
