Unhappy well how difficult can a few web pages be...?

This was the thought going through my mind as I struck the deal for commissions on all online business but the reality is version (lost count) of a 147 page web monster that has regularly kept me awake a night as I search for the holy grail of web success. I regularly buy feature rich programs that promise to solve new problems I discover on my quest.

I just want to get this off my chest and see if 'once again' I am heading off the edge of the map and into some digital abyss of unrankable websites only ever visited by sick search engine bots!

Please treat this posting as my 'message in a bottle' before I journey on to new script bazaar's never again to set foot on html.

So the journey starts about a year ago with the fateful words 'well how difficult can a few web pages be...?'.

version 1 built with yahoo sitebuilder, after removing the theme pictures that colleagues described as 'looking like sperm under a microscope' the site became very plain but to me at this stage it was all laid out in a complex collection of code that served very well at keeping all the search bots away.

version 2 - the sitepal stuff - spent ages setting that up and admitted defeat against the ai logic that flatly refused to talk about any of the responses to questions that i in. Now the site was eye catching but no one saw it apart from a few friends.

version 3 - stripped of all pictures and 'neat' add ons i had added it now rolled in with a page rank prediction of 318,000! This was a far as I could get despite using 'professional' grade submission tools.

version 4 - I made the whole site php and put some cacheing stuff on the server but still I was in the website doldrums.

version 5 - Links galore to a wide range of directly service / industry related stuff.

version 6 - rss feeds allowed new constantly updated information to be displayed on the site. In fact on the day the md checked the site it had pictures of some bods merrily burning a flag - not good right next to the company logo!

version 7 (well it was really somewhere between v3 and v5). Music - say no more - that feature got removed!

version 8 In frustration I ripped a competitors site and changed the whole lot over to my name before my natural sense of fair play (and fear of impending legal action) made me stop. It never even got through the firewall.

version 9 Having now discovered lots about the benefits of static address's and pages laid out in a certain way in HTML I have now moved all the text over by hand onto 147 new 'clean and simply designed' web pages.

And the future holds more sleepless nights getting rss back in and painstakingly generating effective tags, keywords, optmization, submission, log and a bunch of new stuff I haven't even come across yet.

If anyone is the same dilemmas please let me know.

Hell, if someone can get me to solution then all kind of deals come on the table.

Send me a message via this site and I will show you where I'm at.

Regards.

Phil D.

Hi there,

First of all welcome to iWebTool. And, enjoy your stay here.

Erm... I read you post and I think you have accidentally posted it in the wrong section, you will get a better response posting it in the general talk forum on this site. No problem any way just ask for it to be moved there or re post it in the correct section and your bound to get proper responses.

Good Luck.

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.
