Default backwards links

The page rank prediction tool is not working for my site http://www.startinghome.com. Similiarly a check on google for backwards links results in zero.

There are site that link to mine, site ranked and crawled by google.

So, does anyone know why the pr prediction tools is not working with my site or know why google is not recognizing links back to my site?

Thanks

Pike

Google doesn't have any for mine either, and I have over 800 listed at MSN. They are obviously more picky than the other engines are.

I don't understand Google at all. Your site appears to have over 140 links in to it, according to Google but no page rank. Our site has pr 3 with 47 google links, when we had 30 links they gave us pr 4, then we added to and improved the site so we dropped to pr 3. Some internal pages without inbound links had pr 4, now they have pr0! No apparent reason. (Msn give us 200 links in)

We did get about 100 inbound links from directories added in three or four days. Do you think we got penalised for that by Google? Otherwise it is a mystery.

Does pr matter that much?

I woudn't worry to much about PageRank. If you're having problems to get ranking for the keywords you are after, then worry about that instead. Google has a complex calcuation to value a website with PageRank -- it counts all the links to you, quality of each links, your outgoing links, who you link to etc. I hope this reply helps you

Kenni, I've just read your message again. You mention Outgoing links, who you link to, etc - if I link out to important sites from each of my internal pages, important to the site visitor that is, will that help me with Google? It does improve the "quality" of my site for visitors, but I thought that links out were of no value - even that they might "leak" page rank.

Hi there,

If you want a good PageRank, buy some links to sites that already have a PageRank (preferably 4 or higher) as this means Google references you quicker. I'm sure that helps, correct me if I'm wrong someone.

*Hint* buy some links on iWebTool *Hint*

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Default Re: search engine positin tool

The search engine position tool is also not working for my site http://www.startinghome.com ; it stalls and provides no response, even with search terms like "pike porter" that return a number 1 position in google. I'd like to find out where I list for the terms "vermont real estate" Any suggestions would be helpful.
