The best place I've found is http://www.w3schools.com
They have an extensive collection of very useful internet design tutorials.
There are a ton of decent php & mysql tutorials, but this is the best I've found thus far.

Jumpen: W3 isn't PHP... it's HTML/CSS.

David: welcome. I really admire your want for creating your own work, it's a great thing because it ensures uniqueness and customizability. High five!

www.php.net for PHP tutorials... also maybe check out some examples in our PHP & MySQL sections.

He was looking for a PHP/MySql tutorial, there is a wonderful PHP/MySql tutorial located at http://www.w3schools.com

This is in no way affiliated with W3C!!! If you read down the navigation bar on the left side, you will see a comprehensive list of tutorials on the following:
  • HTML
  • XHTML
  • CSS
  • TCP/IP
  • XML
  • XSL
  • XSLT
  • XSL-FO
  • XPath
  • XQuery
  • XLink
  • Xpointer
  • DTD
  • Schema
  • XML DOM
  • Xforms
  • SOAP
  • WSDL
  • RDF
  • RSS
  • WAP
  • Web Services
  • Java Script
  • HTML DOM
  • DHTML
  • VB Script
  • AJAX
  • E4X
  • WMLScript
  • SQL
  • ASP
  • ADO
  • PHP-with chapters on MySql
  • .NET Microsoft
  • .NET ASP
  • .NET Mobile
  • Media
  • SMIL
  • SVG
  • Flash
There are other tutorials based on web building, and a reference on each of the above tutorials.

This site is a comprehensive source of just about any tutorial you may need, and it is perfect for beginners, I know that first hand, no confusing language, and terminology is introduced and explained in an easy to understand format.

Other sites tutorials may be good tutorials, but not necessarily for the beginner, they are typically written by advanced users with little literal writing skills, and are bloated with unfamiliar terminology and reader experience assumtions that can greatly reduce the ability for many begginers to learn at an acceptable rate.
