Arrow Software homepage design

Hello!
I would like to get some comments about structure, design and usability of a "Bookmark Base" homepage.
It's now closed for indexing but already got PR7 on title page.
So, what's your opinion? Do you like it or not? Is it clear for understanding?
Thanks!

I think it looks good, handy for some people I'm sure. I only use computers at home, and mainly just one. I would however, suggest that you have your text proofed and edited. I noticed some grammatical errors in your home page and on the download page. For example, on the download page you stated:
Quote:
we prepared a few quick but quite detialed video tutorials which will learn you how to use Bookmark Base

It should read:
Quote:
We have prepared a few quick, quite detailed video tutorials which will teach you how to use Bookmark Base.

I bolded the main changes I made, but I also restructured the sentence a little. It is important to ensure your grammar and language skills in order to make a professional impression on your potential customers.

I think that the concept is a good one, and the layout is simple and inviting. Overall, it's a nice site.

Hi there,

First of all I will tell you my first impression of your site, what I think is good, what I think needs improving then my overall impression of the site as a whole.

When I first entered the site I was welcomed warmly with the soothing colours of green and white which I think was an excellent blend as it goes with picture well which seems to be blades of grass. The picture of the blades of grass actually brings the site closer to nature, and scientists have proved that while being on the computer, seeing things close to nature (including water, tree, wildlife, etc.) can actually keep a calm atmosphere. So I have to say well done on the appearance on first impression.

The only bad thing that I can see on the home page when you first enter is the impression that it is laid out particularly like a Blog would be laid out. I don't personally enjoy looking at Blogs but fortunately for you something kept me on your site.

I like the idea that you have incorporated your site with all different types of browsers, and even though you have only finished making it compatible with Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera...I still think this is an excellent feature to your site. The reason why I think cross compatibility is good for your site is because it stops the theory or people being biased to either one browser or another, it means that anyone could browse your site with anything and would still be able to use all of its hidden features. This is in fact rather rare in today’s world as people seem to be designing site either for Internet Explorer or FireFox. But what you are doing is letting people use their preferred browser.

Maybe what you could also incorporate is the cross compatibility of OS’s, remember that a lot of people use Linux as well as Windows and now that Intel are making chips for the Apple computer, I can see a lot of people dual booting Windows & Mac on their home computers.

When I followed a few of the links I noticed that you have customer testimonials on the bottom each page, and a link to see other testimonials. Although they weren’t very convincing to me, they seem a little ‘too’ short and sweet for my liking and seemed like you could have made them up yourself. I am not accusing you of this matter although it could be easy to make an assumption.

Now I noticed you have made a ‘Company Details’ page instead of an ‘About Us’ sort of page, although I think your should add your company missionary on your main home page, as people a lot of the time like to read these. The reason for this alteration is because people like to see what company does the second they enter your site, remember that the majority of hits are click through, and the chances of the leaving are probably 5/10. Because of this you want to draw their attention ASAP.

I like the idea that you have a mailing list and that it is actually optional to register, some sites simply join you up when you make a purchase, and that’s it, you never hear of them again, you just get spam from their company affiliates. Maybe you should add an unsubscribe button underneath this so that it is easy accessible from the site as well.

The ‘Tell a Friend’ option is very well thought of as well as I myself often use these to notify my friends and family of great offers although you should maybe offer them 20% if they purchase, remember in the world of today people want to be thanked for the generosity of sharing business.

As I can tell you have put a lot of effort in your site, I thought it would be only fair if I was to put a lot of effort into a review. You do not have to take on what I have said, although I do think you have already made a great website, these are my personal opinions and I wouldn’t mind if you though my thought were garbage…a lot of people do .

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

A Great site in my eyes, great colors and has much to offer. I dont know off many whom do what you do. I tried downloading the free trial but it failed.

You requested www.bookmarkbase.com/download/Bookmarkbase.rar but we have no such page. Sorry again.

But we have lots of other great pages! You can check our beautiful title page, our sitemap or even the page that guided you here.

I don’t get it….there’s always one I know
So it’s its $20 ish and it’s a downloadable app that you save bookmarks with.

And then what?

So I’m at work and I have a link to fish.com and I have bookmarkbase running so I save the bookmark with the app then when I get home it synchronises or something?

I’m sorry for not getting it btw..

I’m thinking why not have a website where members get their own page of bookmarks blogmark or something and that’s their home page with all their favourites on. But that’s like live.com and all these web2 sites

I once tried doing something similar but I got stuck with the coding and had to give up.

how come you're page rank 7
using iwebtools I see you have like 6 backlinks into your site how did you manage that?

Arrow Re: Software homepage design

Bookmark Base was designed as a portable application. Here's default workflow:
  1. Let's pretend that we have two PCs - HomePC and WorkPC. Our target is to synchronize bookmarks between MS Internet Explorer on WorkPC and Mozilla Firefox on HomePC. We will do that using USB Drive.
  2. Install Bookmark Base on your USB drive.
  3. Launch Bookmark Base and press "Import" button. Then, select Internet Explorer in the list of detected browsers and press OK.
  4. You'll see your bookmarks in the main "Bookmark Base" window. Now, exit "Bookmark Base".
  5. Unplug USB drive and plug it into your HomePC.
  6. Launch "Bookmark Base" and press "Export" button. Then, select Mozilla Firefox in the list of detected browsers and press OK.
Enjoy your bookmarks merged.
Still, it can be installed as a normal desktop application and be used and synchronization tool amonst different browsers installed on one PC. This is a common situation for webmasters who use all kinds of browsers to work with their sites.
Tool will be released in one week so you will be able to see all my talkings in action.
Web2 bookmark managers and social link networks are great (I use some of them) but they fail if you want to see your favorites in your browser bookmarks menu, their content is only available on a webpage.
