![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, There was a previous post on how quiet this forum is getting and I didn't really notice how quiet it was getting till this week really. At first I broke it down to people being busy, etc. Although now it is a matter of some people not coming on the forum for weeks at a time. I notified compuXP of this matter and he suggested that I make a thread and ask for their members personal suggestions on how we can increase the usage of the forums. If you have a suggestion simply post it below and maybe we could make a dramatic change and make this place more lively. My suggestion is that maybe a live chat facility could be added to the forums for direct interactivity. Or maybe people simply spread the word and get people from other sites to join, via forum signatures, etc. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't believe that the silence is due in part to inactivity, on the contrary, I see many threads that get read 30 or 40 times that have no replies. Alot of times, like in the case of link exchanges especially, the thread isn't much use to anyone at that time. But sometimes questions go unanswered, comments go uncommented, and I think that some posters are just trying to answer the posts that they are familiar with. I don't think a live chat would be beneficial, if it were busy enough here to warrant a live chat, then a chat room would only be detrimental to the forums, because then alot of what is being discussed isn't simultaniously being recorded, like is the case within the forums. I think it's important for our discussions to be displayed permanantly simply because alot of good information is contained within the forums. With chat, once you have a conversation, the information conveyed during the course of that conversation will be lost permanantly. I would like to suggest that those that have an interest in being active forum members start new threads as often as they have a question or comment to start a new thread with. This could be as simple as asking about color combinations on your web design, something as trivial as favorite foods, or something as weighing as website hacks and hackers. Also, keep up with current events in SEO, SEM, web design, marketing, business ethics, legal issues, whatever tickles your tush. In doing so gives you a better understanding of what we are all trying to accomplish as website owners, designers, and marketers. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, I was aware of the chat taking forum activity away, although what I meant was that only people who have membership with forum can join the chat, therefore bringing more people to join the forum. The chat could hold live auctions and things like that, similar to Name Pros. Thanks for your reply, please we need more. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah, a chat would be good for auctions, but I just went to the chat at name pros, and the room had 32 people in it, and only 2 were actually saying anything, and I was one of them, and noone was saying anything back. I think that this poses a problem, because if someone came into our community and visited a chat room for fellowship, and was not responded to, it could turn them away to never return. Now in the forums, you have more time to respond, and if a post gets responded to within 10 minutes, the new guy is going to feel appreciated. I'd say that if there is a need for an auction forum, I am all for that, but I don't care for the idea of a community chat room. |

| Member | Ok, being a sys administrator, and involved in many SEO topics and other forum like stuff, I can say, drop any idea related to chat, it will take away your users.Other suggestions. First, remove branding from iwebtool to get maximum users attention, so everyone can include your script in their pages. This increases users appeal for the forum , to check new stuff added and so on. Secondly, open new forums, like server management, and other lobbies like that, I could post some pointers. Third, hire some good talkative moderators ( or admins ) from already registered members, that start good threads. If let`s say 10 moderators start 20 threads, bang, you`ve got exposure. Forth, improve your SEO.Advertise.Do some contests.Stuff like that.Signature contests. Last edited 07-25-2006 at 10:18 PM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, Sounds like a relatively good idea to me, although I don't think people totally get what I mean by 'chat service', I mean use it for scheduled auctions only, after the auction is over, temporarily disable it. I did earlier compare it to Name Pros, however they do not switch it off and you get people lurking in there for the sake of it, spamming, etc. Anyway thank you for that excellent suggestion and I hope someone sees this and takes it into action. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

| Member | I`d love the branding free option.I mean, completely remove branding. That would get the board many users.People could have their own nice seo pages and would gather here for more delightful ideas on how to improve their sites. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, Sorry you must of posted exactly when I did. Well yes that would be a good idea, although when people extract source code, they would simply assume that they site they were on are the original authors and iWebTool would get no credit for it. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

| Member | Well, it`s not a problem, people could look in the source code.IWEB would still have control. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, So what you mean is that people could just have the web tools with no branding in the first place, but would still run through iWebTool? Suppose that could work. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |
