![]() | Okay, what do you think is the best forum software? This includes freeware, shareware, and espeically paid-ware (if that's a word). I made this a poll... tell me what you think. Post what forum software you use, what features make it better than the others, and why you would recommend it.

| Regular Member | Best free software - phpBB SMF is nice also...if it keeps moving at the pace that it is, it will surely surpass phpBB soon Best paid software - tie between IPB and vBulletin Both are wonderful...IPB tends to have a stronger admin side, whereas vB tends to have a stronger user side. Everything else is honestly personal preference when it all comes down to it...IPB does have a slightly better pricing scheme, but that's not to take away from vBulletin What do I use? vBulletin...why? Because it is the most popular paid software...simple as that. I used IPB for about a year, but transferred to vB a couple months ago in wishes of attracting more members.

![]() | Go for vB if you are willing to spend money. PhpBB is good if you aren't willing to spend.

![]() | I have used many different ones. For pay software it is Vbulletin. For free software it is phpbb. I run both of them, as well as some smf sites and others. I would not necessarily rank Vbulletin ahead of phpbb in all cases either. However, from a management and maintenance standpoint is nice. |

| Member | We run a heavily modded webmaster forum http://www.ewebdevelopment.net/forum which runs off PHPBB. Although, if I had to redo things I deff would have gone w/ VBulletin. Although i'd say PHPBB is the second best ![]()

| Regular Member | I think, Invision also has a free version called IPB or something. You can also create and host free IPB board at http://invisionfree.com

![]() | Unfortunately, those invisionfree boards must be hosted at IPB servers ![]()
