Default A bit of irony

I was just doing a search on the term "web design", and came up with some interesting results on google. The number 1 spot was filled by a website called webpagesthatsuck.com. I thought for sure, especially with a name like that, that when I entered I would find a fine example of a website. Quite the contrary. I think that they modeled their site after the webpages they target. How is it that you can stand in judgement of something and be guilty of exactly what you stand against. I don't know, maybe I am just a bad judge of websites, but I think theirs sucks.

Good point. Another thing is, thousands of websites out there are targeting the keyword "web design" and this website is devalueing web designs and still made it before all the other websits in the search engines (similarly what you've said).

Exactly, if they had a section on proper web design, then that would be different, but it's sole purpose is to knock ugly sites, I wonder how many times they made their own list.

I've been struggling through with similar sites using the keyword "free", falsely in their pages. For instance, their description reads "free PHP superscript download", and what they mean is that the download is free, not the script. (Have you ever paid for a download?) That's a waste of my time, and their bandwidth, why do they want this type of untargeted hits?

Hi there,

For things like that I usually use directories to find them as they are more reliable and doesn't contain as much rubbish as search engines do.

Just a suggestion.

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

After spending countless hours looking for a skin, I'm about to jump off of the SE boat too. I constantly get irrelevant results, but it just seems to be here recently, I wonder if google is easing up or maybe it's the terms I've been searchin lately. The problem is that most directories don't offer many results at all, and I usually come up empty handed there too.

Hi there,

Well unfortunately there is nothing you can do apart from searching and just hoping the results it retrieves are valid. The reason why search engines are clogged up is because the world is clogged up full of spammers and their spamming sites .

Kieran Taylor.
