Anyone seen the new Windows version. I'm real p****d off they've stopped supporting '98 as my trusty old laptop is still good for a few laps !

Yea, Its called Windows Vista. And there are going to be 8 different versions of it. Ultimate is the best. I'm actually running a Legal copy of Windows Vista: Ultimate right now on my PC and I'm loving it!! It won't be for sell to the public for another year or so.

IMO Microsoft is spending too much time on the interface and not enough on things they need to be working on: they're fighting a losing battle. Macs are better, everybody knows it. Interface, ease-of-use, security, and design, just not enough people use them.

Hi there,

compuXP I think you might be wrong on this one. Microsoft are putting a lot of ideas into action for the actual OS and not just the HCI (Human Computer Interface).

I have a legal copy of Vista too, and I have to say that the security features of Vista is not comparable to any other OS'. The security is almost flawless.

Although we will all have to wait until it is released in 2007 for the final judgement. I do have to admit however that Vista does look like someone put Windows, Mac and Linux in a blender, and that is what you get. Never mind .

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

I'm sure that in the near future, linux will take place of windows, right now are free linux distributions wich can be installed in 15 minutes, auto-update, pre-compilled packages, easier than windows. The only disadvantage is that you can't play all the games.

Contrary to popular belief, XP is not based off of the Windows operating system. It was based from its pun, though, "eXPerience", while I learn the computer world, etc, since I was 9.

Well let me just say this: You'd trust a company that abandoned us all for 7 years and let us deal with the bugs with no way to handle them unless they weren't lazy enough to issue an update the requires you to basically stop using your computer while it downloads so nothing *else* goes wrong?

Yes or no.

And if Windows, Mac, and Linux were put in a blender, 2/3 of them are open source, so Windows would be too. Meaning it would be free. Which it's not. So, they weren't put in a Blender.
