![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Some of my pages have a ads by Google, view ads about ad at the top of the page. I would think maybe my page content didn't match any of the ads they have available, but the problem is, ads show up on other similar pages. In fact, the only difference between some of these pages is the page number and the photograph it displays....What gives, does anyone have any idea? I went to google in search of the answer, but they just say that it is because my content doesn't have a targeted ad, doesn't make any sense to me for the reasons stated before. Any help would be appreciated. The website is http://hotactress.buyyourgadgets.com Thankyou |

![]() | Is the "problem" that you're seeing an <input> thing where you type out some words, then hit "view ads"? If so, it's because Google can't/hasn't categorized your site.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah, that's it daniel, its a box that you enter your interest. I've included a screenshot of it as an attachment. I have 9 pages under each of the actresses, each identical except for the page title and the picture. Some of these identical pages display ads, some of them display the "view ads about" form box like in the screen shot. Last edited 07-17-2006 at 09:37 PM. |

| Junior Member | You are seeing the default 'ad' for a Link Unit, ( the ones that are only links) -- much like when you see the public service ads appear for an Ad Unit. This usually happens when the AdSense spider is not picking up the proper keywords in order to display relevant ads. Try changing the content (text) around where you are displaying the ads that are producing default displays. Also be sure to check out (or try chaning) title tags or meta description. When I am having a difficult time getting relevant ads to display in our Directory categories, sometimes one of these two things casues the correct keywords to be 'caught" therefore displaying relevant Google Ads. There is also a code that you can place in the html of your page that will prevent the spider from reading certian portions of it's content. I've not had the occasion or reason to ever use that so, perhaps someone who has, can assist you there. Also, if one places too many google ads on one page, there may not be enough ads to go around (display) Try removing one and see if your Link Unit displays correctly, then. Sometimes, less IS more ![]() Hope this helps a little, Lilly Last edited 09-18-2006 at 06:57 PM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That was very helpful. I actually found out the reason that it was happening is because of the type of ads I was trying to display was a horizontal text ad, and once I changed that, no more input box. Thanks for the other information you gave about the public service ads. Your post was very helpful, do you have any other information that you could give me about adsense? |

| Junior Member | Actually, successful AdSense advertising is very much about control. Controlling the location, look, feel and of your ads and making them as attractive as possible to your visitors. It’s also about controlling the ads shown on your pages so that you get the highest possible revenues when users click. The first thing is much easier to control than the second. Google gives advertisers very little control over the ads that are served on their sites. While we can pick and choose the background colors and font for our ad units, when it comes to the ads themselves, we accept what we’re given. We can play around with keywords, content and site topics to try to produce those elusive high-paying ads but that’s about where our control runs out. One control option that we do have though, is to block ads we don’t want. There used to be a limit of only 25 URLs to block, and that really wasn’t much help at all. Recently Google has increased the limit to 500. That’s a huge increase which takes you beyond keeping out undesirable sites or competitors. This is from the adsense blog Quote:
It lets you keep out low-paying sites too. As well as sites that have been set up specifically for AdSense or which contain more ads than content or pretty much anything else you don’t care for. This means that you’re actually going to have to check the ads that are on your site (and without getting banned for clicking on your own ads), then block out all the ones that you think your users won’t like. I do this simply by typing in the url on the Google AD that I see. Never ever click on your own ads to check them out. Controling your ads also means keeping a close eye on your stats so that you don’t accidentally block any high-paying ads. The result should be more high-paying ads on your site as well as more ads that you know your users will like and trust. There IS tracking software you can use with reference to getting the value per click etc. I just don't happen to use any becasue I do most of my tracking through the AdSense interface and by creating 'channels' for each ad. to track individual campaign and/or individual page stats. One last thing. I wouldn't go buying any "Get Rich Quick Using AdSense By Listening to ME' eBooks. Not that you would! Trial and error, and good channel tracking of your own ad placements, layout, colors ect. works best IMHO. I began at AdSense making a measily $3.00 a day and now 3 years later am earning between $3000 and $9000 per month on AdSense. It goes up and down, so don't ever get discouraged. My point here is, find what works for you, not what some Guru says you should do. Never fix what isn't broke and trust your own instincts. Thats not to say that ALL AdSense eBooks and programs are bad. They're not. I'm just offering my opinion. AND 'The Death of Adsense' is BS. Don't buy into it. If you have any specific questions to ask me, feel free to ask and I will be glad to help you to the best of my ability ![]() Lilly Last edited 09-19-2006 at 10:21 PM. | |
