Default Will Google restrict to sitemap.xml?

Hello,

I submitted my sitemap to Google and I'm wondering what I should do when there will be new pages.

- Should I submit another sitemap?

- Should I delete the sitemap?

- Should I not bother because Goggle will anyway crawl for the new pages not in sitemap.xml

Just a beginner question.

If your website is not crawled by googlebot on daily basis i suggest you to submit new sitemap whenever your site architecture is changed.

IMO, Google bot will crawl your sitemap anyway - It will notice the structure change even without you resubmit the sitemap But if the bot crawl your site quite often, that is...

Cheers!

a sitemap is only a suggestion

it will not restrict your sites indexing to the sitemap

but if you can include new pages on sitemap it will greatly help google (and the other SE) but you don't have to resubmit it !!!
google will go periodically and check if the sitemap has changed

Google will index pages not included in sitemap and not excluded by robots.txt. It is ony there to help G index your pages quicker.

Yeah Alan, when i publish new articles and link to them from the home page or a major section page, they're usually crawled and indexed within 48 hours--even though i don't remember to update my sitemap very often.
