![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just out of curiosity, how do you go about making a web page that is screen size friendly? I use a resolution on my screen of 800x600. Some people use more than this, 1024x768, and much more, and some use 640x480. So how do I make my webpages friendly to all that view it. Also, different browsers see my website different. I use only tags that are supported by the major browsers, but the results are still different....Why? |

| Junior Guru | You asked the 2 questions that still stump the best in the industry. I'll answer one at a time, as best I can, on how I have solved these. For your first question, you need to use %'s as your width/size describers. Another way is to have different style sheet, and use a php program to choose the right stylesheet and echo it into the html. Try and design for 800x600 because that is the "starting point"...anybody who has a 640x480 deserves scrollbars. For your second question, Internet Explorer and Firefox seem to hate each other. Firefox, Opera, and Safari view of a website is exetremely common...then you have the outcast, IE. I don't know why Microsoft won't change their CSS engine but they are stuck on stupid. Hope this helps. HTMLGuy

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I read an article on how to use div tags to be friendly on all platforms. I got lost after the first few paragraphs. So, my guess is, if it stumps the industries best, perhaps I should just try to please the majority for now, get some experience under my belt, then tackle the bigger problem of making pages that can be viewed by all who are updated. Is IE still the majority, or have other browsers began to take over? I use both firefox and IE, and had never heard of opera until 4 or 5 days ago, and now I see it everywhere. Thanks for the advice Hguy. |
