Is it usefull to submit web directories?

do I need to submit to thousand of web directories to get a good pagerank?
I feel its useless... should I have to???
I just confuse...

look for quality sites with content relevant to your own for links. On another not focus heavily on developing and improving your own websites content - this is a true winner and with the quality not quantity links you get your site will be on the right path.

of course it is usefull to submit to directories, as long as they are popular and big. But i would recommend forum posting in a lot of big forums, with a high PR - it is easier, you learn more, get people to know and you have a lot of fun!
I would do both.

PageRank is nothing
You can get good positions in SERPS by submiting to directories

but if you insist with the pagerank get a link from ONE high PAGERANK page, don't need many

I am also agree with Giorgosk.

If you are looking for good response from directories then your should optimize your submission too, according to your keywords, and vary your titles and descriptions also after some duration like after 50 directories or after 100 directories, this process can save your site otherwise if you use same titles and descriptions for all directories then it can hurt your site.

Directory submission is helpful to increase site's page rank because you can get one-way links through this method. But if you want better results, try to exchange links with higher PR sites with same theme to your site.

Submit website to effective and result oriented directories, no need to submit it with thousand of useless directories. Directories are good source of one ways links. PR updates take time.

submitting to a large number of directories i feel isnt as important as it once was the focus now is on quality and not nessercarily quantity, but they can still have an impact so its still a gd idea to do it.
