What is the difference between Google and other search engines?

Hello,

I hear a lot of opinions which say that Google is better than Yahoo for example. Why is that? And does SEO include optimiation for other search engines than Google?

Google has more web pages in index and and have better search results.

Their engine technology is better.

Google is not always better than Yahoo, it's different. Check the number of backlinks on each for a site and I'll bet Yahoo is showing more, Yahoo doesn't wait for the same export every few month, it's more real time. The search algorithms are different, producing the possibility of different results for the same search. Google would appear to have many more pages cached and more powerful. So you see each has its own positives and negatives, so it's not one in necessarily better, different.

Both are good SE but I was using Google more since it was the SE I was using ever since.. and about SEO Google also did great on the site I'm working with..

Google is used to be the biggest SE. I prefer google. As many other peoples. That's why google has more competetive SERPs then other SE.
