| Smurf | I have built a web directory, a directory widget actually, and I realize something about the whole PR thing. There are "directories of directories" out there that list directories and they often sort their lists by PR. What I realized though, was that there is usually very little difference "textually" between the sevens and the zeros. What I mean is this: a directory is nothing more than a list of categories. I might have twenty categories on my opening page and the next guy might have 24 and the next thirty etc but that is the only difference. We all might have slightly different names for our categories which is nothing more than a preference. So how can someone say with a straight face that the PR on a directory amounts to anything? At best, it may have something to do with the age of it but there is nothing about its display, keywords or anything like that that would justify such a huge variance in their ratings. I think Google should give up on giving PR ratings to directories. |

![]() | You get PR based on inbound links to your site. Your websites content does not affect PR, unless it induces a penalty. |

![]() | links are the biggest factors in getting PR.. the more quality IBLs (w/ high PR) you get, there's big chances that you can get high PR |
