My idea was to combine link exchange and web directory and pay per click. I'm just starting out but it seems to be working.

I created a widget that webmasters can install a web directory on their site with just a few lines of code. It is so easy to install. At that point the widget is facilitating link exchange. I install it on mine, you install it on yours and the script posts our links on each other's site. The next webmaster that installs it will be on both of our sites and we will automatically be on his (because it pulls all the links live in real time from my db). Needless to say, a thousand installs will make quite a network.

But I figured that many installs would generate quite a bit of advertising interest. So I organized it all quite well and set it up as a web directory. In the web directory business the typical model offers free links or paid links so I did the same.

I figure paid links in such a network will generate enough income I ought to go after websites to post the widget on and realized "Hey, that's what Google does with Adsense!". They rent a small part of the webmasters page while I ask the webmaster to install a complete new page.

I am a newbie to all of this link exchange hubs thing, but do know how important it is. I recently decided to bite the bullet and design my own website around consumers and small business, but I am searching for ways to get people to link back to my site, is this something you would do?
