Lightbulb SEO...What perameters would you set?

Ok, lets try to start a decent discussion here.

Suppose you were in control of the parameters that decided the requirements for good SE rankings.

What elements would you look to set
what,if any, current elements would you keep
what requirements would you look for in a site
what would you decide would be penalties
how would you stop the cheats

Very good thread idea indeed Midi.
So if I need to execute a little survey on the site I would check these parameters:
  • Easy to crawl navigation possibility
  • Descriptive keyword rich title tag for the most important pages,
  • Description meta tags which are able to convert,
  • Canonical problems,
  • Keyword rich URLs using mod_rewrite,
  • Quality of the design/content,
  • And the anchor text mix.

Lightbulb Ideal Search Engine

My Fantasy Engine:

It is very fast because the algorithm calculations are small.

I base keyword rank on the following:
1. Links pointing to site
2. Percentage of clicks on search engine results page vs. other site's
3. No HTML errors
4. Minimum HTML write up
5. Minimum broken links
6. For popular sites, a human element that gives the website a secret rank from 1 to 10. I'd hire people to do this.
7. Update history. More is good.
8. Amount of new inside pages since last crawl.

It penalizes cloaking, keyword stuffing, swear words, pop-up ads and slow loading sites.

I think that backward links is the most main parameter. Natural ones. And I would concentrate on building the tool which will help to do that.
