![]() ![]() | Has anybody else noticed an increase in the spamming in this forum recently? I've just seen 3 threads that have been clearly started by spammers, for me it's getting to be annoying to say the least. A number of members seem to have been inactive in this forum for some time, is this to blame? And what about new members, is this problem putting new legitimate mambers from contributing, or even joining in the first instance? I know this is a problem and the mods can remove spammers, anything else we can do to keep these at bay, or do we just accept this as an ongoing problem?

| Junior Guru | When you are successful, you are targeted by a lot. So mods need to be more careful. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Spamming is a problem, and as already said a popular forum is an active target. At present the only mods active here are me and Bagi. We are doing our best to delete spam and ban spammers as we find them. Its not always possible with just the two of us to make sure the threads are deleted straight away, however there are alot that you wont see as we do get most before you will get chance to even notice them. One of the most annoying spam threads are the two or three word responses like "nice site" or " I agree", not spam in the worst form but these sort of posts do not contribute at all to the Forum. Sometime with just the two of us it is easy to miss some spam burried within a thread, so we do rely on other members reporting them, your help is always welcome. What seems to be missing lately as far as I can see are the good debates we used to have here. |

I dont think anyone would argue that you are doing a fine job, but your only human. Quote:
Yes it does seem some time since we had a good debate, perhaps we're too passive now.

Not every user is. Some are SpamBots. I suggest that the registration process should be tighten to prevent SpamBots from signing up. As for Spammers, just block them and their IPs. Just my 2 cents. ![]()

![]() | It is possible to save a forum from spambots by tighten the registration securities but how to save the forum from human spam. I know the reason, there should be some infraction system for users. I don't know that if this forum has that or not but that is pretty effective. |

![]() | But if someone advertises a service or product that could be valuable to the readers of this forum does that count as spam?.. |
