![]() | Well, for one thing you could stop posting this same message everywhere. Someone will answer you eventually (it's only been about 15 minutes since you posted), but mulitple posting is just rude. To answer your question, a .net domain is essentially no different than a .com domain. To see if it is worthwhile to get a matching .net domain to a .com you own, you need to ask yourself how important it is that no one else has your domain, or something similar. The only real benefit is keeping other people from "borrowing" your traffic by appearing to be related to your site. Example, you wouldn't expect to find online gambling at Yahoo.net, because you associate the name with Yahoo.com. Unless you have a decently popular domain the simple answer is no, there is no need ot get the matching .net.

![]() | I think .net if official for a "network", but .com is much more professional. People usually only get the .com, unless it's already registered by someone else.

.com stands for "commercial" and is technically reserved for commercial sites. However, the only suffixes that have actual guidelines are .gov and .edu, which you have to prove that you are a government of educational establishment to register. .org is also supposed to be for non-profit organizations as well, but I believe the registrars are somewhat lenient about it.

![]() | When you say "a decently popular domain" do you mean in google if you put that word or 2 and it comes up with 9,550,000 , should i get the .net.........hmmm "To answer your question, a .net domain is essentially no different than a .com domain. No, that's not what I mean at all. You are confusing domain with keywords. I mean that in order for it to be useful to have both the .com and .net versions of your domain, you must get so much traffic that someone would want to register the .net for themselves, in hopes of catching some of your traffic. It is a somewhat unsavory practice, and is rightly frowned upon.
