aspiring ebook seller

hi all, being new to 'make ur own website thing' i am looking for a reliable cheap web deisgner to help build a fresh site selling my e books. i tried using a webhost but had massive problems because it wasnt as easy as the spiel suggested to make ur own website in hours..just quickly i know very little bout ecommerce, i have a series of ecoadventure books i wish to promote on a yet to be made website, all written, waintng on drawings as we speak..does any one know what tools i need to find a good web designer,,am i better off getting web host then having someone use my webhosts programmes so i save money in short term til i can produce income to update site as needed?. all i know is that it isnt easy for non computer generation newbies to knock up a decent site on webhosts( unlike the myriad of suggestions that it is)any information , however minimal is greatly apreciated. thankyou
