Default SEO and Iframe

I want to add an iframe near the top of my page with hot new content I don't care about getting this frame spidered at all.

But will this disrupt the main page's seo?

The affect of using an iFrame for the top banner should be insignificant. You may want to follow this link to view a simulation of what search engine spiders see.

Without knowing your design technique it's difficult to assess whether you used streamlined (or bloated) html code. Search engines only index your code, so the easier it is to get to the real content the better the seo.

Try the simulator to see how well it does, and then adjust as necessary.

To be honest I would avoid iframes and suggest that you find a better way. Frames do not provide the best medium for optimisation.

Having a top Iframe cannot by itself damage your website's rankings on the search engines but it is recommended not using them.

You can create a table at the top and put the contents in there.

I have heard that SE dislike iframes. Or I have missed something?
