Do you own a web directory?

hi! I have few questions to ask? Just curious about directory business.

1) How many you have?
2) What is their type? bidding? paid? free?
3) What's their age?
4) Any profit yet?
5) Want to have more directories?
6) Will you sell your directory to me or any one else here?
7) Any advice for new or wanna be directory owners?

1) I have two of them
2) both are free (one for seo related website, and the other for marketing related blogs)
3) 1,5 and almost 1 year
4) I could support my friends and mine websites.
5) no way
6) sometime maybe
7) the efforts which is necessary to promote a directory is usually doesn't worth it

3) up to 5 years
4) Webdesign and webprogramming
5) No
6) Have no such plans
7) Make qualitative directories

HI

1) How many you have?

I own 2, one normal and one is a bidding directory...

2) What is their type? bidding? paid? free?

One is Bidding dir and the other is Free/Paid

3) What's their age?

The bidding Dir is under 1 year Old and the Free/Paid is 2 years old but the domain is over 10 years old..... But it is a perfect domain for a Link Directory

4) Any profit yet?

The Bidding Dir just over $200 the Free/Paid just now over 1k Month and climbing

5) Want to have more directories?

I have more domains to make some nice ones but lack the time..

6) Will you sell your directory to me or any one else here?

Not right now but you never know...

7) Any advice for new or wanna be directory owners?

Yes get good a domain with the word Directory in it and make it a .com and make it a niche directory if you want to make any money with it and wait at least 1 year more with heavy promotions to earn anything from it and always always leave the free listing option in it because you get to send 2 emails to each submitter.... the Pending Link and approved link.. and in the email have content for something else you are promoting.... like an affiliate program etc

Well, it is very tempting to actually have a web directory but in the long run, it will prove to be extremely difficult running a powerful, successful ones.

The majority of the built directories will fall to low PR sites after a while.

It comes complete with management too and offers commissions on paid link sales (yes, it offers paid and free links with a condition)

3) What's their age? about 4 months of active promotion

4) Any profit yet? Not yet.

5) Want to have more directories? Yes, I am actively seeking "partners" to add the widget to their website, as long as they have legitimate web content.

6) Will you sell your directory to me or any one else here? It is free, no charge for the directory, the links, the categories, the updates, or the management. It operates similar to an RSS feed.

7) Any advice for new or wanna be directory owners? There are tens of thousands of web directories beating each other up. My idea is to work together. The more widgets get added the more traffic the network gets. The more traffic, the better the chance to sell paid links. Concentrate on building content rich websites.
