There's no reason why not to put ads on, but remember the focus of the site - is it a forum or a site littered with ads? Put ads on in appropriate numbers in appropriate places and they can enhance the site, make the site look used and even generate traffic. The revenue sharing scheme could be an incentive for members.

I prefer making more members and traffic first for your forum. What will be the benefit after all, putting the ads if you don't have anybody click on that. So, get the crowd first.

Wait for some time more, if your site start ranking well on some keywords then it is wise to put ads as traffic towards your site will become consistent.

I would put ads in the forum as soon as possible.
