Out of a sample of 10 Google datacenters this new blog site is listed on 2 of them, page 1, 1 datacenter page 2, and not in the first 5 pages, if any, of the rest of the datacenters. The result is that the site shows for a couple of hours each day.

Could it be that google does not like the url - too long or something?
Could it be that it takes time for them all to get it?

The site has been up for about ten days, linked to from five other relevant sites (poor pr) and from Digg. All the inbound linking sites show up on Google pp 1 or 2!

Anything I can do, do you think? Would another double scotch help?

ps Anyone any tips on getting a high value relevant pr page to link to you?

Long tail domain name could be one of the reason for a spam penalty, but the name alone wont do any harm. Your content looks original, so i wont think you will be penalised.

may be google feel that your site is of importance to certain geo location. You may think of getting some back links from general sites and that has a world wide reach. Otherwise you must be happy as long as you reach top your target audience.

Also your site seems to be relatively new, you need to be patient.

Some changes happening at the Google data centers are quite natural and normal in most cases. Even rankings can see such fluctuations from time to time.
