If you had a good name and you park it, does it hurt the value over time?

I think so, because it will share popularity of your other name by which you was working till now, if both addresses are approx same like seomethod.com and methodofseo.com then it can be share popularity and if not then separate domain with web spaces are better than parking.

It won't hurt the value, but it definitely won't increase the value, though developing will add value. The value is in the keyword, with the right parked keyword , it will only show up but won't help you in seo purposes.

It could do, but not necessarily. What determines the value?

PR could play a part, this being based on backlinks, how many sites would link to a parked domain? There are other factors in determining the value, SERPs, Alexa rank, keywords in the domain, and so on. The longer the name is parked the greater the chance of the value dropping, active domains are always a higher value than inactive.

It may or may not. Let's say you got a perfect domain name. If some one buy a domain name with a slight change like adding - or some number, your domain name may not be of much valued than.

Just a parked domain name would not be of much value if it is not developed into a website or some sort of service providing utility to others. It website has to be complimented with the right kind of promotion, backlinks, quality of content etc for effective promotion.

I don't think that parking will hurt value of good name, but you have to start using the domain name by building a website, blog, forum etc.

If its a solid generic type in name all the value is in the potential parked style traffic. I doubt thats the type of name we're talking about.

Why because the person that is going to buy it will not worry if it was parked or not...

I bought a domain that was parked for 8 years and now since I developed it, it makes over 1K per month...
