![]() | Yes, google doesn't like this. Pages that link to a lot of sites, particularly spammy sites, are disvalued and often ignored. If you link back, however, it could be harmful. Incoming links are something you can't control, so they are just disvalued and don't harm you most of the time if there aren't many, or if google doesn't figure out it is a link program. Outgoing links to the site will hurt your ranking. Don't participate in any link schemes. If both sites link to each other it looks fishy on the search results. If you want to rank better, have somone look at your pages and tell you how to maximize your rankings. If you have any content that anyone cares about, people will link naturally, so don't buy links. Your SEO isn't the biggest concern though. If you code it properly and have content that is worth the reading, your biggest problem is the conversion rate. Writing on websites is extremely hard to do well. You need to write perfectly and make sure your visitors know what your site is about in the first 5 seconds. Reading hundreds of SEO books has led me to one conclusion: SEO is a giant scam. Write good content, give visitors a reason to be on your site, and make sure the contents are semantically correct. After you have done all that, SEO will come naturally. However, if you are extremely bent on getting ranked high, I suggest reading Aaron Wall's SEO BOOK e-book. It's at http://seobook.com . Aside from Search Engine Optimization, he also gives you great promotional and developmental help that I benifitted a lot from. |

![]() | I agree with spider_man. If you get too many backlinks too fast, search engines will not approve them natural. And having links for one month is not going to help you either, you need backlinks for enough time(3 to 6 months) to be noticed by search engines as permanent links. There are many link builders who can do directory submission for you. Those can be quite handy, as links from web diretory are one way and permanent. So keep your link building simple and natural. |

![]() | Like anything there is a right way and a wrong way to go about things. You can very well get 100 or more backlinks in a day as google will not likely visit each of these pages all in one day to index them. However there are a few key things to avoid when link building in a larger scale. Use various keywords and links. For directories; use different titles and descriptions. For blog posting: Don't use the same post over and over, be sure the content that holds your links in unique. There are many more tips on this that I could share ... so perhaps I'll construct a new thread for this at some point. I guess the short answer is - if done correctly this can be most helpful to your site, but if done wrong you can cause a ton of damage. Make sure you trust the firm you decide to work with. |
