| Member | Hi Guys, Can you think of this or tell me that why today we do not find any single or double word domain names? (Eg: graphic.com or webgraphic.com) those are single and double word domains. I want to register such a domain that is easy to remember and quick to type in. Today most of the people have registered such domains that is not available and sometimes those people are not actively doing anything with such domains. What shall we do to have such domain names? I look forward to your reply and some solutions!!! Thanks. |

![]() | Your post itself have the answers! They are good and so already taken!! Either you can try to buy them from the owners(get the info from site/ whois) or look for less used TLD(like .info) |

| Member | Yeh, i know but thats not a solution. .COM is more popular and common than .info, .name, .org and so many other less popular TLDs. Don't we have any other way to have a same URL with .com TLD? Just give it a little race to your stormy brain and i am sure it will come up with some solution! Awaiting for an amazing answer ![]() |

Each domain name must be unique, and only registered to one party at a time. Imagine if there were 2 graphics.com, when entered into a browser how would it know which one to go to , the DNS system couldn't cope. That's why there are organisations overseeing the registration of domain names. If you're looking to shorten a URL try tinyurl.com.

| Member | I have a better solution: if we type in a browser www . graphics . com cant we have NOW a new format ww . graphics . com or wwww . graphics . com IMAGINE!!! How many important domains will be free off!!! w . graphics . com ww . graphics . com wwww . graphics . com someone has to think in that direction and that would really help those who are serious about their business and taking such important domains!!! What say??? |

Sorry for misguiding (actually i didnt mean to leave spaces in between) - i just left spaces there for better understanding of what i meant to indicate with "w", "ww" or "wwww" What i mean to suggest - instead of "www.graphics.com" cant we have "w.graphics.com", "ww.graphics.com" or "wwww.graphics.com" instead of reserved domain with 3Ws, cant we have same domain names with 1, 2 or 4 Ws ????? That is a way to free LOTS of popular (single and double word) domains!!! | |

No you can't have this. To change the prefix to the domain name you must already own the domain name, then you can apply any additional subdomains you wish. I already do this with some of my own domains, bit it's up to the owner what subdomains to add.

| Member | I really dont mean of "Subdomains" - i mean it for Domains itself. We do have www.domainname.com such URLs. So instead of 3 Ws (REMEMBER - thats not a subdomain) cant we have 1W, 2Ws or 4Ws???? I WANT TO CHANGE A SYSTEM ITSELF (Those are not sub domains) - To understand that, you may need to forget a habbit of writing yahoo in your address bar and pressing a CTRL + ENTER (to complete www.yahoo.com) and write manually www.yahoo.com (now you understand what i mean) instead of www.yahoo.com - cant we add more features to a system to have w.yahoo.com, ww.yahoo.com, wwww.yahoo.com (again - they are not sub domains) Hope you guys understand what i want to say here (Use your IT brains to understand my logic/trick) |
