![]() | Hi everyone, I've always been taught that the standard phrase, "Welcome to My Site!" or "Welcome to Widgets R Us" is bad form for SEO. I never write home page content that begins with this phrase. I mean, it's obvious you're on the site, right? So it seems redundant at the least. Now I have a client who is insisting I use it and I really want to show her why it's a bad way to begin the Home Page. But no matter how much I search I can't find anything to back up my argument. Am I wrong on this point? Victoria |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You will not be penalised, nor will you gain from that phrase. It has absolutly nothing to do with SEO. Though from a visitors point of view it is not considered a good phrase. |

![]() | "Welcome to my site" reeks of a home made website, but "Welcome to Widgets R Us" should be alright? I wouldn't use "wecome to" in the title tag. If you search for "welcome to" in google you will get 426.000.000 hits... If you search for "welcome to my site" in google you will get 579.000 hits...

![]() | I guess you shouldn't worry too much about such silly things. If your client really want to have it, let her be. |

| Member | I disagree. I think Welcome Too is a nice introduction. You wont gain or lose as midlandi said, but its all about how you want to do it, but personally, I like it.

![]() | I think "Welcome" sound polite rather than obvious. They always say it on TV shows. |

![]() | It's okay to use in home page, nothing wrong in it. Make sure you do not use welcome in title and use less amount of flash in creating welcome page. Most of the websites use too much flash in welcome page, which is not good from SEO point of view. |

![]() | Welcome to my site is an ordinary line you've seen everywhere on the net. In SEO perspective proper use of anchor will help your site because your are targetting what you site is about through your anchor text... |
