![]() | I know, I know, I'm a moderator and shouldn't be freaking out; but give me a break, it's almost 11 PM. Um, yeah, so I own www.basicforums.com - I haven't really advertised it... and it gets 20-40 typeins per month. That is expected, because BASIC and Visual BASIC are both popular programming languages... as you can see if you visit the site. Problem: After looking at AwStats, I find that... "Alexa (IA Archiver)" has accessed my site 10,484 bleepin' times!!! WHY!!??? MSN and Google even have hit only a mere 17 and 24 times. It has used over 160 MB in bandwidth this month. Unless this is bringing me more traffic, is there anything I can do to stop Alexa? It's not hurting me since 160 MB of b/w isn't a big deal for my allotment, but it's kind of annoying. I see that "the few" posts on BASIC Forums have been viewed over 200 times... that's HUGE. And I think it's all from Alexa. I'm also like #3 for the query "basic forums" on Google (w/o quotes), and first page for many others, but I don't know what to do. I want to get them going but I want Alexa to stop. Any help please? Thanks, -A very tired and edgy Matt

![]() | I don't want to block Alexa ENTIRELY, just don't want it to kill off the rest of my bandwidth.

![]() | Why would you not want to block Alexa Entirely? You could just block a major directory in your site, but allow all of the other directories, this would greatly limit the number of places it could go. For example, you could block viewtopic.php.

![]() | This is what you should do: 1. Create a file "robots.txt". 2. If you want to block alexa for your entire site, your file should look like this: Code:
Code:

![]() | Alexa is doing something odd, when ever I visit their top 500 or movers and shakers its doing something in the background and it takes a life to load the page or return to the page. it's not caching or something its odd and I don't like it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Google hit one of my sites 55 times since July 1. i don't even advertise for the site, cause I don't have time to work on it. Is that normal? |
