Hiding affiliate link is good idea, but I don't really recommend redirections sites. better if you can make a simple PHP rediction page rename your outgoing links to out.php?id=id kind of link. Redirection services always look spammy and sometimes irritating and slow.

You mistaken the site. This site is not using the redirection techniques like others. Some times, redirection disables the section or cookie settings and that may cause disapproval of your successful affiliation.

This is the safest way....

Also make money from your outgoing links. more..

little more about the service:

Features available for Registered members:

* Money for every visits on their cutelinks.
* Custom page title for each cutelink.
* Full control over ther cutelinks. They can edit, delete their links.
* Status of each cutelink's performance.

I agree with alemcherry and the PHP solution.

You do not need the PHP file suffix in the affiliate link, so for widgets.php your new link would be (minus www) yourwebsite.com/widgets and there's no ending php or html file extension required in your "new" hyperlink.

Personally, I place my affiliate links in a subfolder named recommends, so the ending for the example would be mydomain.com/recommends/widgets. As long as the only file in the root directory named widgets is the PHP file, browsers find it and execute the command to visit the affiliate site.

The code for the PHP file is very simple to do in a word processor with 4 lines of code, and then just upload to your root server. When visitors mouse over the link before following to view where it actually goes in the browser status bar they see the recommends and are more likely to follow.

Pick a city to visit. There are 100 different ways to get there and none are the only right way. That's sometimes true of how to solve problems in code like affiliate links.

Hide your affiliate ID!!! This is the main used for this online tool. This will display a custom-defined text on the status bar of the browser hiding the real specific target website address. This will help increase your referrals on affiliate programs as users will follow your link carrying your affiliate identifier.

This is a good way.....http://www.triphp.com/linkmask.php

I think the best way is integration through XML feeds, for example booking.com offer this service

Why does one have to hide the affiliate ID?
For me, I like to use the original link to let people know that they are clicking on an affiliate ID.

The reason is ethics. Following your link places a cookie on your visitor's pc that identifies you as the referrer on the landing site. You get the commission if they buy.

If you do not cloak your ID, people can mouse over the link and see the entire URL in their status bar, including the main site of the product you sponsor, and some will open a new tab and go directly to the site (minus your ID). You introduced that person. You deserve the commission on sales.

You promote a product and take the time to integrate it into your website for the benefit of your visitors. Perhaps a small percentage follow that link and actually buy, yet any who do should respect the introduction and the commission due to you.

Finally, sales is not about tricking people into something. If you feel obligated as the sales affiliate to let people know they are following an affiliate link, you can put the words (affiliate link) in parentheses next to your php link. That gives notice without revealing your ID or the main URL for the destination to people mousing over your hyperlink.
