Alexa Toolbar

I want to ask you to all the SEO experts and experienced person. Can I install alexa toolbar without any worry. I have heard that it is working as spyware or contain virus. Is it true.

Alexa toolbar can be installed without too much worry. A number of internet security programs (such as Norton) will identify the active dll file as spyware, however you can override this. I have found however that the Alexa toolbar can slow down the loading of some pages (did an test last week measuring the time to download/display predefined pages on IE7 with Alexa toolbar installed and not installed, still to do Firefox etc.).

Alexa doesn't give back a lot of useful information, and only measures traffic on browsers with th etoolbar installed, before installing ask yourself if you really need/want this.

Is it WORTH IT?
You have to uninstall alot of good programs, disabled firewalls, exposed ourself to the internet without such protections... and it slows down your computer

I tried to install it but the anti-virus installed on my pc warned me virus notification. So I was not tried to download the toolbar again.

What browser are you using? If firefox search and download the

searchstatus

just search on Google the keyword searchstatus add-ons

and installed it.. .It will display alexa ranking with PR toolbar...

agreed. why the heck would you want the alexa toolbar anyways? lol..I stick with google toolbar only and that is only cause of the pagerank feature!

I just want to improve alexa ranking of some of our websites. I am using firefox and tried several times to install it. Downloading has not been completed due to virus notification.

I think that alexa tool bar helps only Alexa with building web sites ranking.

It work on a way of some spyware...that is the reason most of the spyware software things that is a spyware...I did not experience any virus issue with alexa toolbar...

Alexa is not of much use, most likely you can live without it. It sends your browsing info to their server, probably the reason why anti-spyware softwares detect it. Still if you really want to use it, go ahead. It doesnt harm your computer or anything like that.
