Default HD-DVD or Blu Ray

I've been hearing reports today that Toshiba or pulling out of the next generation DVD development. Toshiba were the primary developers of HD-DVD which would leave the way clear for the main rival Blu Ray.

BLu Ray already has a big following, Sony has put the players in their games consoles, some movie studios have already dropped HD-DVD format.

Is the battle over? Is Blu Ray about to succeed as the next generation format?
