Default What is the future of this forum? Death!

I'm just watching a successfull forum to die in front of my eyes. Traffic has been too low, posting just in introduction section, moderators or owners are not willing to create a boom to regenerate the forum.

I hardly see old members are posting or replying. Newcomers are here for maximum 1 week and then gone.

Moderators / owners has been advicing other new members how to advertise their forums where their forum is suffering low traffic. Why are you not trying guys?

So what's next? DEATH!!!

thats true what i thin the less members and less constructive threads lead to less traffic and the main thing is people like to post links as soon as possible.

The thing about it is this:

I have tried....I have worked my heart out. I no longer wonder why the owner of this site gave up on the forum. I left in June...I was working 16+ hours every day over the summer months...I didn't get on the internet so much as to touch an email...I didn't come to iwebtool....I didn't go to my own sites, except in July, when I sold them. I've really worked my ass off trying to get this forum back in shape..I've left hundreds of clues...Still yet, most of the members here still like to be post whores...For some reason, the good posters here are only good because they aren't spamming...Instead, they are post whoring by posting non-stop in the introduction forum, yet fail to see the importance of submitting relevant intelligent posts. I deleted all of the posts for the previous 6 months in the introduction forums to see who's post count's would suffer the most...Mine suffered, I lost over 100 posts...But I have nearly 4500 posts in less than 2 years...I saw some members lose 300 posts out of 800 posts....

On top of that, 99% of the members here are here to advertise their site. There is no community in this forum...Why? because there is no need. I want there to be a community, and about 3 or 4 other members want there to be a community...But the other 8,000 plus members, they want to advertise to us. It's spam....

I see so often a member with 11 posts asking for a website review...Bull shit.... You don't want a review..You want a link. Go away. It becomes obvious when someone actually gives your crappy site a review.

It saddens me to know that members of this forum really don't recognize the effort I've put into this place. I've never been paid to be here. Yet still...I am here. I've never been compensated in any way shape or form....Yet, still...I am here....I continue to hear how crappy this forum has become...Yet noone wants to try to take the reigns and get it up to speed...Because it's not possible...This forum died in June. Maybe it's my fault...Maybe not.. I don't know...But I know that I get blamed a lot more than the people who really screws up the forum, the 99.9% of the members here that continue to try to advertise their site.

Maybe I should just discontinue the use of links in the forum....That would drive away the members that are only here for a link, and maybe there would be 2 or 3 of us left to actually try to build a community..What do you think?

Dear Jumpenjuhosaphat,

I'm not blaming anyone, just saying why mods / owners are not taking initiative to make it more effective. Why this forum is suffering?

Few days back I saw a list of SEO forums and found iWT one of the top ... felt proud that I'm a regular member here - but if current situation keep running it would last longer.

About backlinking and contribution - my reasons for staying and spending my time in this forum are:

1. Back linking ( I won't lie about it )
2. Exchange SEO tips and tricks ( This is 100% true )
3. Exchange my knowledge ( I try to contribute my programming, design and other knowledge in different section )
4. Loves to review others website
5. Spend liesure time or break in a productive way
6. Found this forum more friendly than others

I'm a member in v7n, dp, iguides, triphp, sitepoint, computer-juice - but feel comfortable in iWT - I can say without any doubt. If I was eger to have backlinks, I would have spending my time in dp, as I believe dp links are more powerful.

I believe we need to

1. promote iWT forum more
2. have nice ads in every page of iWT tools,
3. convince owners to start competition / campaign,
4. tighten moderation - may be number of moderators can be increased

Well, I take your advice with a grain of salt...Although, I appreciate your being candid and honest...I agree, iwebtool isn't nearly as powerful as DP...as far as link juice goes....I agree with much of what you said...Only thing is...No one here has the ability to change anything on the forum, much less the tools section of the site...I would love to offer ads in the forum, but I just don't know how to do that with the abilities that I have now...Maybe you could offer some suggestions?

I agree with Hasan... my reasons for being here are pretty much ranked the same... and this is a much nicer place to be than DP. But it gets ever-more difficult to be enthusiastic about posting quality reviews etc. I wish I knew what the answer was...

I will admit, I orginally joined to get a link.

But now, and to be honest it hasnt helped that much anyway, I am here to try and learn and to offer advice to any body that needs it.

I think most forums are suffering at the moment, but it goes in cycles.

The only way to recover is for all of us to post more, decent topics, and then that will increase the chances of people finding us.

I would cut the intro forum, its crap, waste of time, but dont take away the linking aspect, as most people will join a forum to get a link, hell, we even tell people to, but the best will stay and post more.

Cheer up everyone, could be worse !

This list is probably true about most regulars. I'm here more to learn and share experiences and knowledge, the backlinks are less important to me (but very appreciated bonus).

I would hate for this forum to die, it doesn't deserve it. The mods are doing a great job, but th eforum needs to move onto the next level. I remember a few months back the forum seemed a lot more vibrant, but after being forced to take a break for a month it seemed so much quieter.

I don't know what the solution is, but if any ideas are forthcoming, I'm willing to help out where I can.

I've though for some time now about the number of new members that don't contribute, and the number of new threads from the "Introduce Yourself" subforum, I've been away for the weekend, and come back to find 107 threads with new responses, 16 of these were "Introduce Yourself". There have been and still are members who produce valuable contribution, but a large number sitting on the side.

This is definitely one of the friendliest forums around, let's keep it going.

IWT will not die.

What we have is still the basis for a great forum.

It just needs some effort and input, and that is starting to happen again.
If we get 100 new members and only one is any good thats still progress.

Some forums are far too strict and have power crazy mods, others are too lax and full of rubbish.

Here we got it right.

It is true that most of the users not almost all the users here to increase the back links of their own or company's websites. It is also the responsibility of the admin and moderator to run a topic for long time by posting some answers in the thread or post thread.
