Default Anyone know of a good forum for this simple it question

I've got a straightforward, aggravating pc problem - I realise it is not for this forum, but someone might know of another general forum for inexperts like me to post this question. I'd be grateful if you could send me in the right direction.

I back up simply from the laptop to a spare pc. About 10gigs a time, complete My Docs.

In time this fills up the pc, and I want to delete the old back ups.

Some error messages stop the deletion process, such as URLTRE....!URL cannot find file and GOOGLE...1.URL and ACCOUNT...1.URL and CABOD....COM and some others.

I have to delete the folders one by one and leave the ones with error messages.

Is there a forum I can ask for advice, do you know, boys and girls?

Hi John... remember me?

I afraid I cannot help you, but perhaps my guy at my groups forum can.

You would have to join though, to post the question and view our tutorials. It's a general computer/photography forum for inexperts like me too

The address is in my sig if you are interested

John

What program/utility do you use to perform the backup? There are number of backup programs, each work slightly differently (in my experience this could have a bearing)

Hi, Alan. Long time since we spoke, as it were, how are things with you? It's been a wet one for Ayrshire this year hasn't it?

Alan, thanks for replying. I just run a network cable across from the laptop to the pc, keep the two most recent back ups and delete the earlier ones.

Hi John

Ayrshire's only had about 3 days this year where it hasn't rained, hey it's Scotland we're used to it (as you'll know).

John, as I understand your just copying the files over from the laptop to the PC? This'll be a silly question, and assuming the files you're trying to delete do exist then are the files corrupt, is there a problem with the attributes? If you're using windows to delete so far, have you tried using command prompts?

I'll PM you an email address if youwant further help rather than the forum.
