Default Site review please:

I have had www.ableize.com customised, I have also done a lot of work on adding and extending descriptions and meta tags throughtout the site. Have built up around 60.000 BL's and now have a PR5 index with good PR on most internal pages. Hits seem to be up with around 700 average per day but i bet ive missed something!

Could I have a site review please to see what I may have missed? Please ingnore the cat and sub cats of 'Support Groups' i'm still changing heading, description and meta's in there

I shall take that as a sort of compliment then What i'm more interested in is the site for seo purposes and if i have missed anything.

While it may not win design awards, it is a highly functional site.

I was able to find useful information for a friend. Easy to navigate, and find information and resources. And that seems like the best thing you can ask for both for people and for bots.

Looking at your code it looks fairly lean. If you could figure out how to do your masthead in pure css you might eek a little more keyword power there.

The only thing that could possibly make a difference that I can see is if you were to move the "new and featured links" sidebar to the right side of the page (i.e. lower in the code). Since it is on every page and doesn't change you hammering those keywords pretty hard, when maybe in your directory you would want to have the "h1" be the most important thing, followed immediately by the actual content.

Semantically speaking your h1 currently comes AFTER an h2 and there is no h1 at all in the masthead.

Personally I would use two h1's in your case. I would wrap the logo in an h1 as this is the first section of every page (the masthead being thought of as a section) giving power to the alt tag. Then I would think of the actual content as another section and put an h1 there as well, making sure to use them in proper semantic order. Though there is quite a bit of debate about whether a proper page should have need for more than one main topic, necessitating 2 h1 tags on one page. I lean towards the navigation of a site not actually being part of the content of any given page, thus inherently it's own section on the page.

Anyway, those are some things to consider, but it looks like you have nice site, providing a valuable resource, and that is always better than any "trick" to get better SERP position.

I prefer to put he H1 tag at the top of the page and followed by other parts...
The lists of categories need to be managed, I see the links are not eye catching..

It is a nice directory. Also looks like your PR has gone up from 5 to 7 now.

I found the site useful although I don't like the color palette and the font size is too small.

You are a better SEO than a designer. The design is not impressive.
