Does SEM beats SEO of same site

I have completed SEO on my site now it is visible in google 1st page, now i have to start SEM activities, does my SEM activities would bring another sites (forum or blogssites) to my competetion.

SEO is a subset of SEM.....

You don't need to start another site as to start your SEM activities. As they said SEO (search engine optimization) is just part of SEM. You may add the PPC (pay per click) method like Google Adwords as get traffic or revenue for your site.

since SEM is a much complex/greater field of internet marketing then there can be a huge difference if you'll implement new strategies and promotion techniques

Marketing and optimization are different things. People as rule trust more SERP not. Not sure about their feeling about google ads.

Google ads are expensive... I have a client ranking #1 on google for 8-9 months which the term Google is estimating $850 daily budget for 1-3 spot on PPC.. I wish I can charge 1/4 of that fee.. Plus we deliver result with more terms, and on other search engines also...#1 on Yahoo MSN, etc...

In simple terms..

SEO = Search Engine Optimisation - making your site well-structured and formatted and with content and keywords that mean Search Engines will list it near the top of their results pages when users search for 'your' keywords.

SEM = Search Engine Marketing - this can include PPC (Adwords), but doesn't just mean this. It can also use many other marketing methods to encourage people to visit your site. SEM is a broader activity than SEO.

SEO alone won't necessarily bring people to your site... SEM includes building backlinks, which is key to improving SERPs results.

SEM means marketing through search engines. It is an umbrella term that includes SEO, PPC, Social Media and other related disciplines.
Since most people find what they are looking for on the web using one of the search engines, we could call it SEM to cover all that we do, to draw in the customers, be it organic or some type of paid inclusion.
