Just get a site with efficient enough traffic and test them all.. You really cant say whats the best since layouts on sites very along with other factors

The answer depends on your site. Referrals work really well for some sites because they generate a lot of money, but for other sites, like an anime watching site for exapmle, text and image ads work best.

Dont use the Google AdSense for search, it sucks. Video units are ok, but thats about it.
